Hello Friends!
It has been quite some time since I have blogged....in fact, I went back to look and see where my blog posts were...and the last post was talking about Zalie's birth story. Considering we just celebrated her FOURTH birthday....there are quite a few things that have gone in our lives since then!
Why starting blogging again you may ask?I have an excessive amount of time, and I didn't know what else to do with it. Actually, the reason I am picking up the pen again (electronically of course), is for numerous reasons:
1) I have realized that this is a great way for me to unwind and process. It helps me summarize the craziness in my head, and it helps bring clarity to decisions. Writing is therapeutic for me, and I have missed making the time at the end of the day to do so!
2) This is a great way for me to look back and reminisce later on down the road. Going back and reading old blog posts or journals is much more enriching than just glancing at what I posted on facebook that day.
3) There are numerous blogs that I enjoy reading....so I am sharing with all of you if you want to follow along! If not, keep scrolling- and I will never know the difference! :)
In the past I often blogged about the kids, their milestones, and life as a mother. As I jump back into this, I have grown and changed significantly as a person, mother, wife, etc. Although motherhood is still a very big part of my life, I have grown in confidence in the last decade. I have survived and conquered the crashing waves and rolling tides on this journey. I no longer want to cower in a corner when I feel judged, or silently cry from mom guilt that I or someone has placed on me. I feel as though I have moved into a different stage of life, as I am no longer a college-age, newly-wed, young, mom.
I am now a mid- thirties mom who is getting ready to embark on the journey of teenagers, while still having one who is in diapers. I am the mom who has been through the newest baby trends- four times over. And now I just feel old because the stuff that was popular when I was a first time mom is now archaic and on the verge of becoming "vintage".
I am the mom of a "value-size" family...rather than a cute little "pocket-sized" family.
Beyond that, I am no longer in the up-all-night, babies-attached-to-me nursing stage.
I am in the stage of regaining some freedom and my identity- on top of (not outside of) being a mother. I have four little individuals who I love and pray for with all of my heart, however, they are growing up and gaining their own wings little by little.
I plan to blog about whatever is on my heart- whether that be friendships, marriage issues, work life, girl stuff....you get the idea.
As I look back over the last decade, I wish there was someone who would have had some of these open, honest conversations with me. As I look at my life, I really want to be used to build into other women, and to help them know that they don't have to put on a facade. God loves us and wants to use each of us for who we are....not because we are the perfect looking cookie cutter Christian, mom, etc.
I hope this blog will encourage you, challenge you, and help you to realize you are not alone. It is ok to be confident, to speak up, and to be REAL. Social media paints a picture of perfection- and we all know that is not how life really is. Life is beautiful, but it can also be crazy and ugly sometimes.
So- grab a coffee, and stay tuned!!! There will be lots of fun and variety coming shortly! :)
